I was on the phone this morning with our DAN! doctor. And before we started the scheduled discussion of the various biomedical interventions and whether or not they were working, I said, "Let me ask you something as one special needs parent to another..." And I asked him about interfacing with the school and got his input about our current school situation. Knowing he is the parent of a special child made all the difference in knowing that he "gets it". Adopted or bio - that isn't the issue -- special kids produce special families.

Welcome to my blog on parenting adopted children with special needs. The goal of this blog is to inspire, support and maybe you'll learn a thing or two while you're here. As I've written in the intro, my daughter's special needs are psychological/neurological. So I will undoubtedly talk a great deal about things that are "brain-related". My near-obsession these days is researching neurological disorders and interventions for things like Autism, Tourettes Syndrome,OCD, PTSD, Reactive Attachment Disorder, ADHD, and learning disabilities. Pretty heady stuff for a hobby, huh?
