Hilarious Julie. Years ago we had a little neighbor boy, around four years old. He had the habit of calling our oldest "Mantha." Finally one day she was tired of it, and emphasized to him her name was SAmantha. She was seven or so. He looked up at her for a few seconds before asking, "so, when did you change your name?"

These comments come in waves for us.

I am just waiting for someone to ask me if 'her father is Chinese'. I plan on saying 'Yes! And so is her mother!' [That ought to keep 'em quiet for a while.]

That reminds me of my daughters. They were six and eight at the time. We had a friend who was expecting a baby. I had talked to them about birth versus adoption and used the friend as an example. I thought they understood. So, when the day finally came, we got a phone call. "Lynn has had a baby girl," I told my girls.
A few minutes later they were standing by the door in their jackets. "We're ready to go."
ME: "To go where?"
THEM: "To the airport to meet the baby."
ME: "The baby isn't at the airport. She is in the hospital."
THEM: "Why? Is she sick?"
How old was this little boy? My 9 yo (acts like about 5) just asked me last night: So, white babies come from white mom's and black babies come from black moms, right?". I was surprised that he just asked this out of the blue, so I asked why do you want to know? My SIL is pregnant and due to deliver soon and he just wondered if she was going to have a white baby or a black baby like our youngest (bi-racial) son!!

Wouldn't that be a surprise??? LOL
