Calling All Parents of Traumatized Children!

If you’re scheduling your 2007 vacation time, block out August 1-4 to come to the Attachment Disorder Network’s annual Parenting Traumatized Children conference. We will be meeting at a fabulous quaint resort called The Elms in Excelsior Springs, MO (just outside of Kansas City). The hotel has wonderful accommodations and a full-service spa. A great chance for respite for those of us parenting some very challenging children.

But more importantly, the conference is shaping up to surpass even the awesome group of speakers and workshops we had last year in Atlanta. For the first time we will be offering three pre-conference all-day workshops for in-depth education on topics such as Love & Logic parenting and biomedical treatments for traumatized children. Our confirmed pre-conference and keynote speakers include Dr. Foster Cline, Dr. Katharine Leslie, Deborah Hage, MSW, Nancy Ashe (editor of adoption.com), and Dr. Phillip DeMio.

We currently have a call for presentation for our 90-minute and 180-minute breakout sessions. If you know therapists, social workers, adoption professionals or parents who work with traumatized children and would like to speak, download our call for presentations here. The deadline for proposals has been extended until January 8, 2007.

And if you are NOT a member of the Attachment Disorder Network, you should be. Not only will you get access to our bi-monthly newsletter and other awesome benefits, you can attend the conference at a reduced rate. And, if you renew now, before January 1, you can have a full year’s membership at 2006 prices - $25 a year. Our dues are going up (darn those printing and postage prices!) to $35 for 2007.

The parents who attended last year’s conference or ordered our conference CDs or DVDs are still talking about how much they’ve learned and how great it was to network with other therapeutic parents. So, tuck the date away on your calendar – August 1-4. And stay tuned to the ADN website for more details as they become available.
