More than one parent has told me that coming to the ADN Conference is likely to be their only VACATION for the year. Sigh...sad but true, parenting challenging kids leaves little available time or funds to take "real" vacations. Not to mention the difficulty in arranging for child care of children who are not easily cared for.

That is why the ADN conference committee is working hard at planning fun social events and ways for attendees to relax and truly ENJOY the conference. Let's face it, the topic...Parenting Traumatized Children...can be depressing. Our children have been through a lot (and so have we). Sitting in session, hour upon hour, talking about these issues can be emotionally draining.

So...we're determined to have FUN! That is why, if you attend the ADN conference, you will be GUARANTEED to get the following:

-- chocolate. I personally never go anywhere without it. But even if you forgot to bring your own...someone will have plenty to share.

-- a laugh. Whether it's at the Comedy Improv night, socializing with our crazy staff and friends, or during the presentations themselves. Someone, sometime is going to make you laugh! And that's good for you...mentally and physically.

-- a chance to put your feet up and let your hair down. Simpsonwood is truly a relaxing place. Sure the weather in Atlanta is going to be a bit "warm"...but there will be plenty of places for you to kick back and relax. After all...this is vacation...

-- a hug. Lots of our presenters believe in the power of a good hug. Our kids need several of them each day; and so do we. So get ready...you will get your tank refilled!

So if our sessions weren't enough reason for you to come to the conference...come for vacation! Between the movies, comedy acts, coffeehouse, morning walks, swimming and all the socializing...you are bound to have some FUN!
