Do you know a person who catches hummingbirds? My son with ADHD has caught two hummingbirds in the last week. Yet he can barely sit through school. Like so many children with ADHD, he seems to have ants in his pants and a chatterbox that rarely quits.

However, his ADHD doesn’t seem to get in the way of doing what he really loves. What he really loves is hunting, fishing, searching for snakes and other critters, and just being outside. In fact, he has displayed incredible patience waiting hours for a fish to bite or a deer to approach.humfuller2007 I never knew it was possible to catch a hummingbird. They seem to flit in and out of sight with an amazing speed. You barely have a chance to see what they really look like and then they are gone.

First, you would need to have the patience to wait for a hummingbird. Then you would need to have the hand-eye coordination, as well as the speed, to grab it. You wouldn’t think a kid with ADHD would have that kind of patience. However, I’m quite sure, if you have a child with ADHD, that you are not surprised by the speed or the agility. humbirdfuller2007
My son L wanted to show the hummingbird to someone and he didn't want to let it go until he did. Unfortunately, the neighbors were on vacation, super dad was a work.

I offered to take photos of the bird and also offered to make a digital recording of him releasing the hummingbird. He was quite pleased about the prospect.

As we went outside to release the bird, he opened his hand. The hummingbird stayed very still in his palm. Finally, he gave it a little lift into the air and it flew off. Really, it was quite amazing.

My youngest son's worker refered to him as 'a real chatterbox'. Yes, he is, but how wonderful. ADHD has both problems to be overcome, and great stuff that might not be there without it. I can't imagine the patience and reactions it must take to catch a hummingbird. John
