Today LuLu is hanging out with her big sisters. I’m not exactly sure how this happened. But it’s a welcomed event. Our eldest invited Kay to breakfast at their favorite bagel shop this morning and LuLu asked if she could tag along. Usually the answer is “no”, but for whatever reason…today it was “yes”. LuLu was so excited that she was up at the crack of dawn getting ready and then being impatient for a couple of hours.
The breakfast was over and the girls back quickly. My heart leapt for a moment, thinking there’d been an “incident” at the restaurant, but they reported all was well. And that our eldest daughter had invited them to her apartment for the afternoon to play Guitar Hero and look at the new exotic frogs she’d won at a science teacher event. So, they scurried out the door a few minutes ago for the afternoon.
I love it when LuLu is included without me having to push the issue. While her big sisters love her, I know she can be an incredible burden to them. And I know that Kay especially needs a break from her. But this time, the three of them planned the day, without any intervention from me. They all chose the time together. And LuLu was walking with such a lilt in her step.

The house has a peaceful silence to it. And when they return home, Kay will be babysitting LuLu as we go out to dinner with a high school friend of Super Dad’s who is in town for the week. Yahoo! Another unexpected day of vacation for me!
I’ll still be holding my breath as to whether the whole afternoon goes by without a negative event. But the thought of the possibility is very encouraging. And breeds those seeds of hope for more days like this in the future.
