High Comedy, It’s Free at our House

Did any other adoptive large families go to see the movie, “Cheaper by the Dozen,” a few years ago and think to themselves, this is just like our house, “Why did we pay money to see this?” I’m not saying it was a bad movie, we just felt as if we were back at home when we were supposed to be out on a date. If I remember correctly, my husband and I got up and left early, because our dates are few and far between.

Today reminded me of that movie when we had a bonfire in the back 40 and cooked hotdogs and made smores. My nearly adult son, who just graduated, lost a hotdog in the fire when it fell off his stick. I offered my condolences and suggested he fetch it out for the dog to eat and make himself a different one. Well he fetched it out all right, and then he ate it, burnt, and covered in ashes and proceeded to tell us all how wonderful it was.

The baby, now 10 months and walking everywhere as long as she is barefoot, kept getting stuff on her feet. She would sit down, rub the stuff off her feet, then stand up and get more stuff on her feet. Well, you get the picture but at least it wasn’t cow pies.

The seven year old, scored a brilliantly calculated revenge on the 14 year old, who likes to pick on him. They were running about shooting each other with squirt guns because it was quite warm here today. When the seven year old shot the 14 year old with deadly accuracy, he informed the 14 year old that his squirt gun contained his urine, not water. Boy was the 14 year old mad, ultimately the seven year old confessed his deception, lest his older brother beat him to a pulp.

The 13-year-old daughter decided to entertain all of us with her juggling expertise for nearly 30 minutes. During her juggling demonstration, she would hold two golf balls in one hand, and one golf ball in the other hand. She would throw the single golf ball into the air and nearly fall over trying to catch it, and then switch it into the other hand. She would then take one of the two other golf balls and throw it into the air, repeating the process.

My husband asked her if juggling involved throwing all three balls into the air at one time. She straightened him right out, so now he actually understands what juggling is all about. She made my husband and I a great Memorial Day card with inside flaps, pop-ups, and a corner pocket where she stuck two dollars, one for each of us.

The 14 year old found a cute young ribbon snake no bigger than a pencil, only his sisters didn’t think it was very cute. They shuddered and tried to get away from him as he poked his snake in their faces. The baby tried to eat it.

The four year old just let the chickens back out, after they had been put in the chicken house for night, because she loves to play with them, only she also let the dog out. We have an Alaskan Malamute who only has one fault, he kills chickens, well actually he kills coons, opossums and skunks too. So, I have to go and call the dog now.

I love that movie! How neat that it even had true to life aspects.

LOL......We've had days almost just like that! Today, instead, was a rough one. So, I thank you for sharing yours - this way, I get to laugh at at least one family's antics! ;-)
