I have seen written on several adoption forums that ALL adopted children have some degree of RAD, even those who went straight from the hospital to their adoptive parents. Also, it covers both ends of the spectrum -- it a child is angry, unhappy and rejects everyone, he's RAD. If a child is friendly, gives hugs and kisses, and goes willingly to family members (such as grandparents) it's RAD. If all I knew was what I had read on this forum, I would be really afraid of adopting any child older than three days!

Remember the time when kids could not concentrate, it MUST mean that they are ADD or ADHD?

The teacher in your story is not a diagnostician, and had no business giving a declaration and prognosis about RAD.

And the doctor who IS a diagnostician should be better informed. Will you give him ATN materials to refer to? :-)

One of the goals of ATN is to inform. As we spread the word, the truth will become more universal, as it often does.

RAD = Sociopath? In some kids that may be true, but to make it a blanket statement is unreal.

I'll be sure to tell Hannah that she's going to be a sociopath when she grows up. Sheesh.
