I rarely take this space to talk about our spiritual life or how incredibly important our faith belief is. But today, I’ve just got to brag on our beloved Church Family. Super Dad and I joined the church we’re currently involved with nearly 13 years ago. This is by-far the longest I’ve ever attended any one church (except for my hometown church as a child). And, we truly think of the folks at our church as our Family.
When I had to take LuLu to the hospital a couple of weeks ago, Super Dad was traveling and told me to immediately call someone from our Church Family to go with us. It seemed like the most natural thing in the world to do that.
Last night, LuLu eagerly awaited the chance to attend our regular Wednesday night activities (dinner and Bible studies). I was cautious and concerned that it might be too much for her too soon. But that was not the case. She jumped in with both feet at the Bible study and was “very good” by reports of the teacher.
Our Church Family is so ready to love us, so ready to be our cheerleader. My fondest memory in all our 13 years there, was 9 years ago when we stepped through the sanctuary doors with our newly adopted LuLu, having arrived back from China the day before. The entire congregation stood up and applauded.

You can’t get much more loved than that.
Or yesterday, when everyone wanted to hug either LuLu or me, all had been praying, and all were both relieved to see her and concerned about how things are going here at home. None shied away from us, as if LuLu’s hospitalization were that character flaw that some see mental illness as being. They know the real LuLu on the inside – and they see her challenges for what they truly are.
I jokingly tell folks that LuLu is probably the most prayed for little girl in the world, at the very least in our corner of the world. And I imagine God smiling a huge smile as He listens to all our dear Church Family so faithfully intercede on our behalf.
It’s so important to be loved! So on this Love Thursday, it’s only fitting to praise a group of people who love us so unconditionally and have taught us so much and God’s love.
