On a personal note…

We made it! We’re now officially moved and living in the new town. While the boxes are mostly unpacked (or shoved in the garage until a later date) and the kids settled into their new room, our new house routines and habits have yet to form.

Which is my way of saying, I haven't yet found a way to carve out a niche of time to write regularly yet. (Today the kids are sleeping in a bit, so I'm at the kitchen table with my laptop typing quietly before I head into work.)

Just to let you know, Jay is doing good. Actually he’s doing exceptionally well. I'm really impressed with his newly developed coping abilities. Actually, I'm rather blown away by it.

Craig had a few teary moments when watching his toys and bed disappear into the moving truck, but once he realized we were going with it he was happy again.

So far everything, other than the screaming of my muscles from all the furniture lifting, has transitioned with a minimum of turbulence.

Yesterday I registered Jay for school at the special education district office. Today I’ll be faxing over Craig’s IEP to the school district as well. Fingers crossed on placement for both.

This next week or two will still be bumpy in defining our routines. I don’t know how fast it’ll happen (my plans are to get in some good solid blogging time this weekend) but I’ll be finishing up the two series “Moving with a special needs child” and “Raising Jay: A day in the life with my late-diagnosed, high-functioning autistic son” in my next posts.

Until then, take care!

Glad you're getting settled Genevieve!

Look forward to hearing how the transition and the boys' placements go!
