One of the advantages to schooling LuLu from home (dare I say "homeschool" since I’m not officially homeschooling her; instead awaiting the judge’s decision), is that
our schedule can be flexible when need be. Today I decided it was time to use that advantage. After LuLu finished her pen pal writing assignment and listening therapy, we headed to the grocery store to beat the crowd. I live in a place with TOO MANY PEOPLE! When it comes to things like grocery shopping at Thanksgiving or gift shopping on the weekends in December…forget it! I know people who travel to other cities, like Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville (or cities in Florida), just so they can shop in a less-populated area. It makes sense because we run out of the “good stuff” around here.
So we headed to the new Super Walmart to buy our turkey breast (with only 6 of us for dinner this year, why cook a whole bird?). I’m thankful for the new Super Walmart, too. At least for the time being. It’s closer to my house and much cleaner than the other two that are nearby. In fact, I have been so disgusted with the other Walmarts that it has been years since I shopped regularly at one (and that’s not a political statement on their economic and employment policies) – it’s just a statement on how unclean and slightly risky it feels to shop there. I’m suspecting that this one will not remain shiny and new looking long and that very soon (maybe as soon as Friday) the crowds will discover it.

Then we headed to our regular grocery to buy the things that Walmart doesn’t carry – like our favorite kind of mushrooms, asparagus on sale, and fresh shrimp.
And in just a matter of a couple of hours, I have my grocery shopping done! And I don’t have to darken the doorway of those crazed places tomorrow. Tomorrow…is cleaning day…yuck…I’ll try to remain thankful!
