Every Monday, I feel this way. So much to do…so little time! I think I’d be more encouraged if I knew that when I got to Friday I would have accomplished much of what’s on my list. But for the last year or so, nothing could be further from the truth! On the agenda this week is dinner for 30 in conjunction with our church’s youth retreat. The church will be hosting about 500 middle and high school youth from the community. I volunteered to provide dinner in our home for 30 middle and high school girls. It is going to be fun, but it does require a great deal of planning.
Also on my agenda is sorting through our own personal taxes and getting that information over to our accountant. I love to procrastinate bookkeeping tasks…I hate them! And last week, with preparing for our IEP meeting and doing much-needed work for the Attachment Disorder Network’s upcoming conference, I was successful in procrastinating it yet another week.
I also have more ADN work to do. I’m always eager to do that. But it does take time. Usually more time than I’ve allotted.
Then there’s blogging. I’m down to the wire on a short month, and I have a few more blogs to create. So type a little faster.
And, of course, there’s my full time job as teacher and administrator of Ladybug Elementary. This week, in addition to the usually full days of lessons, I will need to take her for a hearing/vision screening at the public school and arrange for upcoming evaluations there. I will need to confer with LuLu’s attorney about her federal appeal filing. And I will need to find that little slip of paper that tells me when the library books are due!
Oh…and did I mention there are ants in my kitchen??? They arrived yesterday and announced that they plan on staying through our dinner party on Saturday. I have little recourse at this point, since I fired our exterminator service last fall, since the new person they sent me was not only incompetent, she showed up at odd hours (like 9 pm on a Saturday night) and yelled at me for calling her back about the ants the next week. I got a 20-minute lecture from her one day about not having my gutters cleaned (even though I told her twice I had already made an appointment to have it done). Frankly, she was a bigger pest than the ants. But they’re back…so I’m going to have to figure out something else.
And, LuLu didn’t sleep much last night. She has the sniffles and alternates between sneezing and chilling, and feeling fine. I started her back on the supplements the doctor has us give her at the first sign of illness, and a took some myself. I started sneezing this morning and REALLY do not need a cold AND 30 people coming for dinner on Saturday.
Is everyone else’s Monday like mine? If not, what am I doing wrong?
