The Chimp is Here!

Well, last week birthday wishes started arriving for LuLu and it wasn't long before she had gift cards and money enough for the coveted Fur Real Chimp.

So, given that I was in court all week and the daily routine was defintely out of whack, one evening I took her over to Target and she made her purchase. She was thrilled! LuLu had been stuck on wanting this chimp and on believing that somehow we (the family who loved her) would not buy her true heart's desire for her as a birthday gift - see blog. I had worried about who was the right person to give her the chimp, but when the money showed up, it seemed logical to let her ease her anxiety.

In hindsight, it was definitely the right thing to do. She didn't need that gift to come from us for bonding purposes (a huge sign she has healed significantly). But she was (is) thrilled with her new purchase.

She has taken the fella everywhere. She has named him Peter. (Who knows - I think because that's one of the kids in Narnia). He is an interesting, realistic toy for sure.

Now given that was the only thing she was focused on as a birthday gift, we have scrambled a bit to figure out what our presents to her should be.

And that's a nice problem to have.

I saw this chimp on TV the other day and wondered if it was the one LuLu wanted.

Based on what I've seen, I hope you find the off button periodically :)

Wish LuLu a happy belated b-day from us.

very cool... now you can say "for the love of pete" and "for pete's sake" and everyone will know who you are talking about. :)

(OK, yes, I am goofy.... but gosh darn it, people still like me!!LOL)

I am glad you were able to figure out how to present her with the gift.
