Temple Grandin got a PhD and has a successful career, and from her life story, it doesn't sound as if she got much real treatment for her Asperger's as a kid. Her intelligence and tenaciousness seem to have gotten her very far. So kids now, who are getting treated, may have the opportunity to do a lot with their lives.

My nephew has Asperger's, is soon to turn 12, and has made a lot of progress in the years since his diagnosis. The years in which the character of Jerry grew up did not give credibility to autism and Asperger's in the way that my nephew and Lulu can benefit. My sister and brother-in-law have the same sort of concerns that you and Super Dad have.... but you are all doing the right thing in intervening for your children in a determined and meaningful way. There is genuine cause for hope for their futures!
